Proposed amendments to Ontario Regulation 79/10 under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007

Summary of Proposal:

Proposed Amendments (proposed effective date of January 1, 2017)

1. Amend section 19 of the Regulation to extend the date by which long-term care homes with Class B, C or upgraded D beds are required to install an on-site generator to the earlier of December 31, 2024 or the date that their redevelopment is completed.

2. Amend subsections 146 (5) and (6) of the French version of the Regulation to replace the term "d'un fléau de la nature survenu" with the term "d'une catastrophe naturelle survenue".

Kathy Wright is Retiring

After more than 30 years as the Alzheimer Society’s Executive Director, Kathy Wright is retiring. Kathy has overseen the Alzheimer Society’s growth from a one-person office on a shoestring budget to a vibrant organization with over 3500 clients, staffed by 25 people and supported by hundreds of volunteers.

Asked about her legacy, Kathy says: “I would be honoured to think that I’ve played a meaningful role in the shift in awareness, understanding, quality of care and services provided to those living with dementia.”

Please join us for a drop-in reception for Kathy at Lupton Hall in the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, 1750 Russell Road, on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. All are welcome to come and wish Kathy a happy retirement.
